This course focuses on the techniques of both short-form and long-form improvisation. Study will be both academic and application-based. Students will grow in comedic timing, teamwork, quick decision-making, physical comedy, and storytelling skills.
Objectives:
- Develop Comedic Timing: Teach students the fundamentals of comedic timing, helping them understand pacing and delivery in improvisational scenes (Anchor Standard 5: Develop and refine artistic techniques and work for presentation).
- Enhance Teamwork: Foster collaborative skills by engaging students in group improv exercises, emphasizing the importance of listening and supporting fellow performers (Anchor Standard 7: Perceive and analyze artistic work).
- Improve Quick Decision-Making: Strengthen students' ability to think quickly and make spontaneous decisions during improvisational activities (Anchor Standard 1: Generate and conceptualize artistic ideas and work).
