Description

This class teaches students how to marry techniques of dance with the storytelling of acting. Students will learn basic skills from ballet, modern, and jazz dance.

Objectives:
  1. Learn Foundational Dance Skills: Introduce basic ballet, modern, and jazz techniques to develop coordination, balance, and rhythm (Anchor Standard 5: Develop and refine artistic techniques and work for presentation).
  2. Introduction of Character to Performance: Teach students how to infuse character into dance performances, enhancing storytelling through movement (Anchor Standard 6: Convey meaning through the presentation of artistic work).
  3. Cultivate Performance Confidence: Encourage students to perform in front of peers, building confidence and stage presence.

Jazmyne Stickles

Jazmyne Stickles is beyond excited to be teaching at CYT Dallas this year! She started her dance journey 12 years ago in a jazz class. She quickly realized she couldn't live without it. Ever since then, she trained with an award-winning studio KJ Dance, Joffrey School of Ballet, and Zion Dance Project. She trained intensely in many genres of dance including, Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, and more. Jazmyne grew up in a competition studio traveling all over the U.S. competing. She has a deep passion for teaching and dancing, and loves to share the joy of dance with everyone! Jazmyne is currently dancing with Zion Dance Project in their Second Company Zion II.
